YouTube Red, the new subscription based and ad-free service by YouTube

YouTube was considering a subscription based model for the popular website since last year. Today it was announced as a $9.99/month ad-free service called YouTube Red. Subscribers will enjoy an ad-free experience across all platforms (desktop, mobile, etc.) and be able to download videos for offline viewing.

Along with the new service, YouTube also announced an introduction of YouTube Red Original Series and Movies from popular YouTube creators.

A short list of which was announced on the official YouTube blog, that includes popular gameplay video creator PewDiePie, Fine Brothers and others. You can read more about it here.
